So Phil Jackson thinks he can coach only home games now? This is hilarious. To my knowledge, nothing like this has ever happened before. Personally, I like how he rolls. Let Kurt Rambis take all those trips to the east coast and he can just coach 41 games in Los Angles.
Now more than likely, Phil would go on some road games but just not take the long trips. I hope next year if this happens, the Lakers win the finals and Phil only coaches the home games. According to ESPN, L.A. would be okay if this happened as long as they get to keep Phil on as a coach.
This is completely ridiculous, but it would be great if it happened. Phil is in a win win situation with this. If the Lakers don't repeat it's because he was too sick to coach them on road trips. If the Lakers do somehow win the finals again, it's because Phil is a good enough coach to get it done just showing up and coaching them in L.A. Either way, this will have to be signed off by Kobe Bryant, who may want to coach the team on away games himself and skip over the assistants. Should be interesting.
