Jeremy Jarmon was selected by the Washington Redskins in the annual supplemental draft. Washington sacrificed their third round pick next year to land the former defensive end of the Kentucky Wildcats.
Jarmon declared for the supplemental draft because he had been suspended for his senior year for taking a dietary supplement that was banned by the NCAA. The kid got a raw deal from the NCAA, but the rules are in place for a reason and he did break them, whether he knew he did or not.
Jarmon could end up a steal as a 3rd rounder. He has the build to play either a defensive end or maybe even tackle in the Redskins 4-3 base defense. I like this gamble by the 'Skins. They were a little thin at defensive end after letting Jason Taylor walk earlier in the offseason and this was a quick way to add some much needed depth to the d-line.
Again, I just wanted to beat Derrick to the punch on posting about a Kentucky player. Luckily, his favorite NFL team also was the team that selected him, so I get to knock out two birds with one stone with this one.
I see that Derrick had already posted a blurb about this on the sister site, Avenue of Champions. I say sister site because Wildcats are technically pussies. Oh well, you can't win them all...
