Tom Watson may nearly be regarded as a senior citizen in most modern day conveniences, but Thursday his golf game was anything but senior. The 60 year old Watson fired a 5-under par 65 at Turnberry in the British open today, outplaying all of his younger counterparts sans Miguel Jiminez.
Watson is a five-time Open Champion, but nobody could have predicted his output on a beautiful day at Turnberry, especially considering someone of Tiger Woods caliber shot a measly 71. Apparently the British Open is becoming old-timer's paradise. Last year saw the reemergence of "The Shark," Greg Norman and a spirited effort that left him just short of winning the Open.
One other side note. One of the PMB's favorites, John Daly, managed to shoot a 68 today and is still in contention, but I'm sure that'll only last til he slams a few brews at the British pubs tonight...
