Turf Toe Tuesday Is Here!!

I would like to introduce a new weekly Tuesday segment to The Playmakers Blog ... Turf Toe Tuesday! Each week I plan to give an injury update of certain professional athletes suffering from the turf toe crisis sweeping the sports nation.

I first became interested in metatarsalphalangeal joint sprain (turf toe) as a teenager watching Sunday NFL Countdown. Each week I couldn't wait to watch one of my favorite NFL players, Vinny Testaverde, take the field on Sunday. And each week I was disappointed to learn during the NFL Countdown injury update that Vinny Testaverde was once again sidelined due to none other than a turf toe injury. The poor man had to have been sidelined by turf toe more than any other professional athlete.

I also agree with a proposal to the NFL for an award in honor of Vinny Testaverde. However, The Vinny Testaverde Award would not be given to the oldest player in the NFL. Instead, the award would go to the player who was sidelined the most in one NFL season because of turf toe.

I, like many other skilled athletes such as Deion Sanders, LaDainian Tomlinson and Tyson Chandler have suffered from turf toe. By starting Turf Toe Tuesday and a proposal of The Vinny Testaverde Award, we will begin to raise awareness of the pandemic spreading throughout the sporting world known as Testaverde toe or turf toe. Live on Vinny! Live on!

You Mean David Wells Wasn't a Steroid Abuser?

Seriously, David Wells turned down an offer to use steroids? I am absolutely floored! I thought he was on the Mark McGwire diet! I mean, look at the 210 pounds of pure muscle slinging a fastball!

"I didn't need to do that and I wasn't going to do that," Wells said during a telephone interview yesterday from Boston, where he was preparing for TBS' broadcast of today's Red Sox-Rangers game. "That stuff is not good for the game and it is not good for your body."

I say, LIAR!

Scotty Reynolds Returning to 'Nova...

Jay Wright, Villanova's head basketball coach, and his team received excellent news today. Scotty Reynolds, possibly Nova's best player, has decided to return to 'Nova for his senior season.

Reynolds averaged 15.2 ppg as a junior last year and made an even bigger name for himself after his game-winning layup put Villanova in the final four for the first time since Rollie Massimino roamed the sidelines.

Reynolds said of his decision...

"The best decision for me is to return to Villanova for my senior year," Reynolds said in a statement released by the school. "I'd like to thank everyone who put their time into helping me get better during these NBA workouts. I especially want to thank my teammates and coaches here for all of their support. I felt like I learned a great deal from this process.

"I'm blessed to be in the situation I am in. I'm happy to be back at Villanova."

Jay Wright will have one hell of a team to play with next year and 'Nova will be a contender for the final four, once again...

Jeremy Mayfield tests positive for methamphetamine!!

ESPN is reporting that Jeremy Mayfield has tested positive for a banned substance! Don't worry though, Mayfield stated, "I don't need to go to rehab. Because I don't have a problem." This should clear up any confusion as to whether or not Jeremy Mayfield has a drug problem. I, for one, take him at his word. He seems legit.

Yeah, I don't give a shit about this either. I just wanted to be the first playmaker to make a post about nascar. Who cares if it isn't really a sport? I am breaking new ground here.
