Thank God..

The Lakers are confirming that Phil Jackson will return next year to honor the final year on his contract. I am sure landing Ron Artest last night didn't help him make up his mind or anything.

I am overly happy that he decided toach again next year. Yes, I am a Lakers' fan, but more important, I am a Duke fan. I admit that I was a little worried that Coach K might would turn to the NBA to see what he could do. I mean in some ways who could blame him? He has three championships and did a fine job with the Olympic team the past couple of years. I suppose I am a bit selfish in wanting to keep him in Durham, where I feel like he belongs.

Oh yeah, the Lakers are my early favorites again next year now.

Go Ahead and Book 15 for Ferder...

Go ahead and put Roger Federer's name in the record books, folks. Andy Roddick defeated Andy Murray in the other half of the Wimbeldon semifinal's today and if there is one thing we know about Andy Roddick, it's that he can't beat Roger Federer. Federer owns a career record of 18-2 versus the American and many of those matches were over before Roddick picked up his tennis racket.

I wouldn't expect any different in the finals, although I'd like to see an American win Wimbledon. Federer is a dominant force on the grassy confines of Centre Court and Roddick would have to display his best ever performance to deter Federer's attempt at fifteen slams. Barring a miracle, tennis will have a new face atop their hall of records in a few short days.

Rivals.com Release Their New 150 for 2010...

Jerry Meyer and his crew over at Rivals.com are the best in the business when it comes to the recruiting game and they recently released their updated rankings for the 2010 High School Basketball Class.

There were a few notable changes towards the top, with Brandon Knight surpassing Mr. Everything Harrison Barnes as the top rated recruit in the country.

Here is the rest of the top 10:

1. Brandon Knight
2. Harrison Barnes
3. Jarred Sullinger
4. Jelan Kendrick
5. Fabricio de Melo
6. Josh Smith
7. Josh Shelby
8. Reggie Bullock
9. Perry Jones
10. Will Barton

Check out the above link for the rest of the 150...

Few Notes...

-Thad Matta continues to get it done on the recruiting trail and adding Sullinger is no surpise.
-Seeing Dominique Ferguson at 23 is a bit of a surprise. Everyone expected him to be a top 10 player, at least.
-C.J. Leslie at #34 is far from where he'll end up. Leslie is a high flying athlete and has the ability to slide into the top ten before its all said and done.
-There is a good chance that Calipari will land Brandon Knight, the #1 player in the country, and make the rest of the coaches in the country wonder if they will ever get another top PG as long as he's in the game.

Diana Taurasi Likes the Sauce...

Phoenix Mercury "star" Diana Taurasi was cited with driving under the influence after being stopped for speeding in Phoenix just a few hours after a game.

So apparently Taurasi can not wait more than 10 minutes after her exhausting performance in a well-played WNBA game to start hitting the sauce? Impressive! Even more impressive was her performance in the following ad for WNBA Live '08.

A little funny note, our fellow blogger Gary used to think Diana was a pretty attractive female! Yes, I'm serious.

Sheed to Get Technicals in Boston?

Rasheed Wallace could be heading to Boston to disrupt their team chemistry and bitch at the officials. The Celtics sent all their big guns or old, washed up players (Allen, Garnett and Pierce), whatever you want to call them, in an attempt to get Sheed to sign on the dotted line.

However, Sheed refrained from making a decision during the initial meeting, because Garnett did not shed enough tears while in Sheed's presence. I really don't understand Boston's thinking with this possible signing. I mean, first you want to trade one of the top young point guards in the NBA and now you want to sign a 15-year vet to join your core of 15 year vets? Danny Ainge continues to show his stupidity and prove that he caught lightning in a bottle with the Garnett and Allen trades, because he is now on the verge of having a team with the same average age as it's coach!

I mean, has Ainge forgotten the break out performance of Big Baby in the playoffs? There are much better options on the market than a 42 year old, whiny, bitch-ass Rasheed Wallace.
