UK Flying First Class on Sunday..

Coach Calipari and his Kentucky Wildcats landed a recruiting hall in the 2009 class that has the opporutunity to go down as the greatest class in the history of the college game. Most thought Cal would have a difficult time ever duplicating a haul similar to the sensational six. That's until the possiblities of his 2011 class began coming to the forefront and made us realize that the 2009's title as greatest ever may be short lived!

Coach Calipari has four visitors from the 2011 class visiting Rupp Arena for Senior day, and all four have Kentucky high on their list of potential suitors. Michael Gilchrist, Marquis Teague and Quincy Miller represent the #1, #2, and #3 players in their class and a young man by the name of Deuce Bello, will be joining them. Bello is an athletic freak of nature and is quickly ascending up the recruting rankings and has a chance to be a top 25 player before its all said and done.

So, yes, you read that correctly. Kentucky will have the top three ranked players in the 2011 class visiting them tomorrow. That's not just the top 3 players at their respective positions, folks. That is the TOP 3 players in the class OVERALL. Let's take a look at the aforementioned visitors VIA some youtube excitement.

Michael Gilchrist

Marquis Teague

Quincy Miller

Deuce Bello

If, and that's a big IF, Coach Calipari can manage to land this class and another one or two (Cal may have as many as 7 schollies available in 2011), you will be looking at the GREATEST rankings based recruiting haul of all time. Ridiculous, folks. Everyone knew that Cal and the Kentucky brand would be devestating, but I don't think anyone expected these kind of amazing classes!

Roy Williams, Jim Bpeheim, Bill Self, Jay Wright and Coach K the bar has been set high. Can you keep up?

2010 visitor Enes Kanter, whom decommitted from Washington, is already on campus today and Josh Selby is supposed to be joining him. A busy and star studded weekend for the Cats, who are quickly becoming the most en vogue team in the country.

What 2 Watch 4 - Tobacco Road Edition

Speedo Guy. Remember him? Of course you do because ESPN made sure to remind you. The fact that I’m writing about this guy can only mean one thing — it’s time for another round of the “bestest, most stupendously incredible rivalry in the free world.” That’s right, North Carolina invades the confines of Cameron Indoor Gym Stadium tonight, where I’m sure Speedo Guy, or some derivative thereof, will almost certainly be seen when UNC shoots its free throws.

Speedo Guy - Fast Facts:

  1. First appeared in 2003
  2. Second "speedo guy" appeared in 2005
  3. Third incarnation appeared on March 8, 2008
  4. Major differences: 3rd guy has less body hair
When you are watching the game tonight, it’s important to remember you are witnessing history. Anytime the “greatest rivalry in the history of the earth, ever” is on television, it’s even more historical than that Obama Inauguration business that went down in Washington D.C. With that in mind, who ya got?

2010 MLB Season Preview: Tampa Bay Rays

What do we blame the 2009 Tampa Bay Rays season on? Was it the injuries, or was it the underperforming stars? Desperate to prove that their 2008 World Series trip was no fluke the Rays enter 2010 with a mission. This version of the Rays look a lot more like the 2008 squad than the 2009 but there are still a few questions to be answered before this team can ready itself to contend for the American League Wild Card.

The first big question for this club is what to do with Carl Crawford. He will be a free gent after this season, and is one of the most exciting players in Major League Baseball. The Rays will have to break the bank to keep him because he really is that good. 15 HR’s, 60 stolen bases, and a batting average of .305 means they will have to offer Carl a big money contract, or he will simply not be here. Carl is going to have to produce as this is a contract year, but he doesn’t have to be happy about it.

Now is Rafael Soriano the answer for this club’s bull pen issues? Last year Troy Percival and Jason Isringhausen were injured by June. In 2009, nine different Rays recorded a save, and that simply will not do. The Rays have to hope that Soriano can fix their bullpen woes.

The last thing, the Rays will need in 2010 is Pat Burrell and Dioner Navarro will have to produce offensively Navarro had such a huge drop off from 2008 to 2009 that the team was forced to deal for Kelly Shoppach to share time behind the plate. Burrell was signed to provide right handed power at the DH spot, but his power numbers were way off in 2009. The Rays need these two players to produce, or they have no hope.

The Rays have the talent and experience to compete for a postseason berth, but beating out the Yankees and Red Sox won't be easy. The depth of their roster may hurt them if they get an injury bug like they had last year. The more likely scenario has them finishing as the best third-place team in the majors.

Here’s what I think the lineup may look like:

1. SS Jason Bartlett
2. LF Carl Crawford
3. 3B Evan Longoria
4. 1B Carlos Pena
5. 2B Ben Zobrist
6. CF B.J. Upton
7. DH Pat Burrell
8. RF Matt Joyce
9. C Dioner Navarro
